Luke Evans made a bold fashion statement at the 2026 Met Gala with a head-to-toe leather outfit inspired by Tom of Finland. The event took place on May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
The theme for this year’s gala was ‘Costume Art’ with the dress code ‘Fashion Is Art’. Evans wore a full leather ensemble featuring a Palomo Spain burgundy structured jacket and flared Ass-Air trousers. The trousers included silver studs and buttons around the rear, adding to the striking appearance.
Evans completed his look with a matching leather hat, gloves, and dark sunglasses. Underneath his jacket, he wore a sheer silk chiffon shirt, which contrasted with the bold outerwear.
Alejandro Gómez Palomo commented on the outfit, stating, “The ensemble was inspired by the bold, graphic sensuality of Tom of Finland and reinterpreted through Palomo’s distinctive lens.” This unique interpretation attracted significant attention during the gala.
Currently, Evans is portraying Dr. Frank-N-Furter in a revival of The Rocky Horror Show at Studio 54. He expressed his excitement about this role, saying, “If you come from theater, you know everyone’s dream really is to do Broadway at least once. I finally got my moment in the most insane role I could ever imagine doing!”
Evans also starred in Dracula: Untold, where he provided an origin story for Dracula. He has shown interest in reprising this role for Universal’s Dark Universe, which is currently on hold after previous films were disappointing. He remarked, “I’d love to bring him back in some concept or context…”
The co-chairs of the 2026 Met Gala included high-profile figures such as Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour. Their involvement added prestige to an already glamorous event.
This year’s gala showcased various interpretations of fashion as art. Observers noted that Evans’ outfit stood out among other celebrity ensembles.
