Dozens of areas around B.C. reach record-high temperatures Sunday - CityNews Vancouver
Twenty-six areas across British Columbia recorded new record-high temperatures on Sunday, according to Environment Canada. A ridge of high pressure contributed to above-average temperatures throughout the province over the weekend, leading to the establishment of these new daily maximum records. Among the communities affected were Vancouver, West Vancouver, Pitt Meadows, and Abbotsford, all of which experienced new temperature highs.
The temperatures on Sunday surpassed previous records, some of which had stood for decades. For instance, Duncan and Tofino on Vancouver Island both exceeded highs that had not been observed since 1916. Duncan reached 33.9 C, marking the first time the area surpassed the 30-degree mark on a June 14 since records began in 1913.

Local Communities Affected
Several communities recorded temperatures above 30 C for the first time on a June 14. These included Campbell River, Comox, Gibsons, Powell River, Qualicum Beach, Sechelt, Squamish, and Victoria. Weather Outlook
According to 1130 NewsRadio meteorologist Michael Kuss, Monday is anticipated to be cooler, though some new record highs may still be set. Kuss noted that even with cloud cover across the Lower Mainland, the region will continue to experience warm southerly breezes, keeping temperatures high. He stated that highs on Monday would approach record levels again, but not as many records are expected to be broken across B.C. as on Sunday.
Conditions are projected to return to near seasonal temperatures by Tuesday. Kuss explained that northwesterly winds are expected to help push high temperatures back closer to the low to mid-twenties. Records in the Vancouver Area have been maintained since 1896.
