A 23-year-old pastor and youth camp director, Carson Alexander Parago, faces serious charges after allegedly grooming and sexually assaulting a teenage camp counsellor. The Winnipeg Police Service reported that the alleged offences took place between August 2025 and March 2026.
The police arrested Parago on April 30 after receiving reports in March. He is charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, luring a person under 18, and distributing sexually explicit material to a person under 18.
The Winnipeg police stated, “The alleged offences took place in Winnipeg and surrounding areas.” This case has raised concerns about safety at youth camps.
In an unrelated incident, a 40-year-old man was charged with killing a kitten and throwing a knife at a woman in a Winnipeg apartment complex. The woman confronted the man after hearing a cat in distress and finding the deceased kitten.
According to police, “The knife did not hit her,” and they seized it from the man upon his arrest.
These incidents highlight ongoing issues of animal cruelty and abuse within the community. The allegations against Parago have not been tested in court, and no timeline has been shared for future proceedings on either case.
