Marie-Philip Poulin’s dramatic overtime goal not only secured a win for the Montreal Victoire but also marked her first career playoff goal in the PWHL. The Victoire defeated the Minnesota Frost 1-0 in Game 2 of the semifinal series held in Laval, Quebec.
Poulin scored at 4:02 of the third overtime period. Ann-Renee Desbiens made 38 saves to record a shutout, while Maddie Rooney stopped 51 shots for the Frost. This victory leveled the series at 1-1 after the Frost won Game 1 on Saturday, 5-4 in overtime.
The game featured intense competition with no regulation goals scored, making it only the third playoff game in league history to do so. In total, both teams combined for 90 shots over a grueling 150 minutes of action.
Poulin looked to be limping and in pain at moments throughout the game, but it didn’t affect her shot when the puck came to her six periods into the game. “It took three overtimes, but the Montreal Victoire are back in the series,” said an unknown source after the match.
This contest also marked a significant moment for Poulin as she achieved her first playoff goal in PWHL history. The Frost faced challenges with forward Britta Curl-Salemme serving a one-game suspension due to a high hit on Victoire forward Kaitlin Willoughby.
