The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) are actively searching for Diane Cooper, an 82-year-old woman who was reported missing on April 7, 2026, after she failed to return home to Calgary. Cooper was last seen on April 6, fueling up at a gas station in Stettler, Alberta, before her vehicle was spotted in the Hoosier area of Saskatchewan later that evening.
Video surveillance captured Cooper’s vehicle, a grey Toyota C-HR XLE with Alberta license plate LVA 978, in the Hoosier area at approximately 10:51 p.m. on April 6. Prior to that, she was seen near Veteran, Alberta, around 9:30 p.m. on the same day. Cooper was traveling with her family’s Dalmatian, Halo, which adds to the urgency of the search.
Cooper is described as five feet three inches tall, weighing around 100 pounds, with a slim build, white hair, blue eyes, and wearing eyeglasses. Her granddaughter, Zoe Cooper, reported that her grandmother has mild dementia but is generally coherent. Zoe expressed her family’s distress, stating, “We miss her so much. We just want her back.” The family is deeply concerned for her well-being, as this disappearance is out of character for Diane.
RCMP detachments across Alberta and Saskatchewan are involved in the ongoing search efforts. Authorities have received tips from individuals in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, but none have been confirmed as credible leads. Cpl. Teri-Ann Bakker of the RCMP noted, “The most credible information we have right now suggests that Diane Cooper was actually in Saskatchewan.” She further added, “There’s no signs that she had packed anything or was going on a long trip,” which raises questions about the circumstances surrounding her travel.
Cooper’s last known location was just outside Veteran, Alberta, traveling east on Highway 12. The distance from the Alberta-Saskatchewan border to Hoosier is approximately 18 kilometers, and it remains unclear where Cooper was heading when she crossed into Saskatchewan. Details remain unconfirmed regarding the reason for her travel to the area.
Zoe Cooper has urged the public to remain vigilant, stating, “If you’re in rural Alberta or Saskatchewan, please keep an eye out.” The family is hopeful that someone may have seen Diane or her vehicle, which could lead to her safe return. The search continues as the RCMP work to piece together the timeline of her disappearance.
As the investigation unfolds, the community and family members await any updates that may provide clarity on Diane Cooper’s whereabouts. The RCMP are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Consort RCMP at 403-577-3001. The hope remains that Diane will be found safe and reunited with her family soon.
