“This investment is about fundamentally redefining the experience of flying with Air Canada,” said Mark Nasr, a senior executive at the airline, during the announcement of their new cabin design.
Air Canada revealed its new ‘Glowing Hearted’ cabin design for the Boeing 787-10 and Airbus A321XLR, which aims to enhance passenger comfort and modernize the flying experience. The new cabin interiors will first appear on the A321XLR this summer, marking a significant upgrade for the airline.
The A321XLR will offer lie-flat Air Canada Signature Class seats for the first time on a single-aisle aircraft, featuring 14 lie-flat seats designed for maximum comfort. Additionally, the Boeing 787-10 will introduce the new Air Canada Signature Plus Suite, which includes a bed size of 2 metres (6’5”) in the suites.
Mark Nasr emphasized the importance of customer feedback in the design process, stating, “We listened closely to feedback and challenged ourselves to create an experience defined by a strong Canadian sense of place.” The new cabin design incorporates ergonomic seats with built-in tablet holders and larger overhead bins, ensuring a more enjoyable journey for passengers.
All customers will have access to 4K OLED screens and Bluetooth audio, enhancing in-flight entertainment options. High-powered USB-C and AC power outlets will be available at every seat, catering to the needs of modern travelers.
Air Canada is also upgrading its Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft to align with the new design standard, which is inspired by Canada and aims to evoke a sense of calm. The A321XLR will feature a backlit canopy of maple leaves, while a wave-like entrance monument will greet premium customers on the Boeing 787-10.
As part of its multi-year renewal and retrofit program, Air Canada is modernizing and expanding its global lounge network, further enhancing the overall travel experience for its customers. The introduction of the new Airbus A321XLR has been described as a “game changer” for the airline.
With these developments, Air Canada is positioning itself to meet the evolving expectations of travelers, focusing on comfort, technology, and a distinctly Canadian atmosphere in its services.
