Trade Moves Ahead of Deadline
“The Canucks indicated earlier this season they would be willing to move pending UFAs before Friday’s deadline,” said Farhan Lalji, highlighting the Vancouver Canucks’ strategy as the NHL trade deadline approaches.
In a significant move, David Kampf has been traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Washington Capitals in exchange for a sixth-round pick. Kampf, 31, began the season with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization before he was put on unconditional waivers in November. This season, he has recorded two goals and six points in 38 games with the Canucks.
Additionally, Lukas Reichel has also made a move, being traded from the Canucks to the Boston Bruins for a sixth-round pick as well. Reichel has contributed two goals and five points in 19 games this season, and he has also shown promise in the AHL, where he has six goals and 13 points in 23 games with the Abbotsford Canucks.
Both trades reflect the Canucks’ willingness to reshape their roster as they approach the deadline. Kampf has a career total of 50 goals and 149 points in 574 games, showcasing his experience in the league.
Earlier this season, the Canucks traded Kiefer Sherwood, another pending UFA, who later re-signed with the San Jose Sharks, indicating a trend of movement within the team.
As the deadline looms, teams are actively looking to bolster their rosters. In a separate development, Maxx Crosby is being acquired by the Baltimore Ravens from the Las Vegas Raiders, further emphasizing the busy trade environment across sports.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further moves from the Canucks or other teams as the deadline approaches.
