Prior to this announcement, consumers had a general expectation of safety regarding their kitchen appliances, particularly gas ranges from reputable brands like Frigidaire. However, the situation changed dramatically on March 11, 2026, when Health Canada revealed a recall of certain Frigidaire gas ranges due to a significant burn hazard.
The recall was prompted by reports of delayed ignition of the oven’s bake burner, which poses a risk of burns to users. As of the announcement date, Electrolux Group, the parent company of Frigidaire, had received three reports of incidents in Canada, including one injury. In the United States, the situation was more severe, with 59 reported incidents and 30 injuries linked to the same issue.
Approximately 5,318 units of the affected products were sold in Canada between June 2025 and January 2026, all manufactured in the U.S. Consumers are now urged to stop using these gas ranges immediately and check their model numbers against the recalled list.
The recalled model numbers include FCFG3062AS, FCFG3062AW, FCFG3083AS, FCRG3052BS, FCRG3052BW, FCRG3062AS, FCRG3062AW, FCRG3083AD, FCRG3083AS, GCFG3059BF, GCFG3060BD, GCFG3060BF, GCFG3070BF, GCRG3060BD, GCRG3060BF, and PCFG3080AF. Owners of these models are being directed to contact Electrolux Group for repair, replacement, or further instructions.
Electrolux Group has emphasized the seriousness of consumer safety, stating, “The safety of our consumers is a very serious matter and not something that Electrolux Group takes lightly.” This statement highlights the company’s commitment to addressing the issue and ensuring that affected consumers receive the necessary support.
In light of these developments, experts recommend that consumers remain vigilant and proactive in checking their appliances for safety recalls. The recall not only affects those in Canada but also raises concerns for the 174,800 units sold in the U.S., further emphasizing the widespread nature of the issue.
As the situation unfolds, authorities continue to monitor the impact of the recall on consumer safety and the response from Electrolux Group. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional incidents or injuries that may arise as consumers react to the recall.
