Nathan Gaucher has been recalled by the Anaheim Ducks from the San Diego Gulls, marking a significant step in his professional hockey career. The announcement came on Wednesday, following a season where Gaucher demonstrated impressive skills in the American Hockey League (AHL).
This season, Gaucher scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists, totaling 26 points in 57 games with the Gulls. His performance set career highs in both points and goals, showcasing his development as a player.
Notably, Gaucher achieved his first career hat trick on March 22 against the Calgary Wranglers, further highlighting his offensive capabilities. Over his AHL career, which spans 185 games, he has accumulated 30 goals and 40 assists for a total of 70 points.
Gaucher was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft, being the 22nd overall pick. His journey in professional hockey has been marked by success, including helping the Quebec Remparts secure the Memorial Cup and QMJHL championships in the 2022-23 season.
In addition to his club success, Gaucher was recognized as the QMJHL’s Best Defensive Forward in 2022-23 and played a pivotal role in Canada’s back-to-back gold medal victories at the World Junior Championships in 2022 and 2023.
At just 22 years old, Gaucher has already made a significant impact in the hockey community, and his brother, Jacob Gaucher, is also making strides in the sport as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers organization.
As the Ducks look to bolster their roster, Gaucher’s aggressive forechecking and physical style of play, combined with his vision on the ice, make him a valuable addition. Derek Lee noted, “Gaucher has 26 points in 57 contests for the Gulls this season,” emphasizing his readiness for the NHL.
The Ducks are expected to utilize Gaucher’s skills as they navigate the remainder of the season, and fans are eager to see how he will contribute at the NHL level.
