“Apple is developing new iOS app layouts and revamping its core iPhone programs to add sidebars along the left edge of the screen, similar to many of its iPad apps,” said Mark Gurman, a well-known tech journalist. Equipped with an interior foldable display roughly the size of an iPad mini at 7.8 inches, the iPhone Fold will also feature an outer display about the size of a small iPhone display, measuring approximately 5.5 inches. In terms of software, the iPhone Fold will run on iOS 27, which is set to be previewed at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2026. However, it is important to note that the iPhone Fold will not support running iPad apps or the full range of multitasking features available on the iPad, as Gurman pointed out, “Though the iPhone Fold will have a display with some features that are also available on the iPad, it will run iOS, not iPadOS.” This distinction may influence how users perceive the device’s capabilities.

As for pricing, the iPhone Fold is expected to be priced around $2,000 to $2,400, making it the most expensive iPhone in the 2026 lineup. Gurman stated, “Apple plans to price the iPhone Fold somewhere around $2,000, and it will be the most expensive iPhone in the 2026 lineup,” reflecting the premium nature of this innovative device.
Additional features of the iPhone Fold include a fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button instead of Face ID, dual rear cameras, and a hole-punch front-facing camera. The device will also be eSIM-only and is expected to house a battery capacity of 5,000mAh or higher, ensuring sufficient power for its advanced functionalities.
