Apple TV has replaced ESPN as the broadcaster for Formula 1 in the U.S. starting in 2026. This new arrangement means that all Grand Prix, qualifying, and practice sessions will be available exclusively on Apple TV, marking a significant shift in how fans can access Formula 1 content.
The Japanese Grand Prix, scheduled for March 29, 2026, at the Suzuka Circuit, will be the third race of the 2026 Formula 1 season. The race is set to begin at 1 a.m. ET, although it faced a delay of 10 minutes due to an accident involving a Porsche Cup participant.
Apple TV’s subscription costs $12.99 per month or $99 per year, and it allows sharing of subscriptions with up to six people through Family Sharing. Notably, F1.TV Premium is included at no additional cost for Apple TV subscribers, providing an added incentive for fans to switch to the new platform.
“Apple TV is the new streaming home of Formula 1 racing, and you can catch all practices and qualifying races there,” a spokesperson stated. This transition to Apple TV is part of a broader deal that runs through 2032, solidifying the platform’s role as the exclusive home of F1 races and programming in the U.S.
As the 2026 season progresses, the next F1 race after the Japanese Grand Prix will take place on May 3 in Miami. Fans are encouraged to ensure they have the latest updates for the Apple TV app to access the Formula 1 hub seamlessly.
“If you can’t see the Formula 1 hub inside the Apple TV app, check for app updates and check if your operating system is up to date,” the spokesperson added, emphasizing the importance of having the latest technology to enjoy the races.
With this new broadcasting deal, Formula 1 aims to enhance viewer engagement and accessibility, leveraging Apple TV’s platform to reach a broader audience. Observers expect this move to significantly impact how fans experience Formula 1 in the U.S.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any additional features or content that may be offered through the new partnership, but the excitement among fans is palpable as they look forward to the upcoming season.
