Local Representation in Dawson Trail
“The people of Dawson Trail deserve a voice that answers only to them,” stated Bob Lagassé, who has announced his intention to run for re-election as an Independent in the Dawson Trail constituency. Lagassé emphasized the importance of focusing on local priorities rather than adhering strictly to party directives.
Key concerns for residents in Dawson Trail include infrastructure, economic development, public safety, and community health. Lagassé aims to collaborate with any party in government to ensure that the needs of the region are met effectively.
Residents of Dawson Trail will have the opportunity to vote in the upcoming 44th General Election, scheduled for on or before October 5, 2027. Lagassé’s commitment to local representation resonates with many who seek a government that prioritizes their specific needs.
Dawson Creek’s New Flag
In a separate development, Dawson Creek has adopted a new flag design, featuring a silhouetted signpost inside a stylized grain elevator. This decision was made following a council vote, which resulted in a 5-2 majority in favor of the new design.
Mayor Darcy Dober remarked, “Formalizing the official flag ensures future councils and staff are clear which flag is correct.” The new flag design, which was granted by the Canadian Heraldic Authority in 2008, has finally been put into use after years of being dormant.
Councillor Charlie Parslow expressed his thoughts on the previous lack of a formal flag, saying, “It just seems so naked.” The adoption of the flag marks a significant step for Dawson Creek, aligning with its identity as it celebrates its heritage.
As Dawson Trail prepares for its upcoming election and Dawson Creek embraces its new flag, both communities are focused on fostering local pride and representation.
