“Police say the attack occurred down by track level, but not on the platform itself,” stated a representative from the Toronto Police regarding a recent stabbing incident at Bloor–Yonge Station. The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. on a Sunday, following a fight that began on a TTC bus.
During the altercation, a man in his 30s was stabbed and subsequently transported to the hospital. Fortunately, his injuries have been reported as non-life-threatening. Authorities confirmed that a suspect, also in his 30s, was arrested at the scene.
However, the situation remains tense as police are actively searching for a second suspect who fled the scene. This individual is described as a Black male, approximately 6 feet tall with a thin build.
In a separate but related incident at Bloor–Yonge Station, two other men, aged 43 and 22, were injured in another stabbing. Both victims received treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital. The accused in this second incident is a 22-year-old man who was also stabbed.
The TTC has restricted access to certain parts of the station during the ongoing police investigation. “There is no ongoing threat to the public and confirm that the lone suspect was arrested, with charges pending,” added the Toronto Police, attempting to reassure the public.
Details remain unconfirmed as the investigation continues, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding safety on public transportation in Toronto, particularly at busy transit hubs like Bloor–Yonge Station.
As police work to piece together the events that led to these stabbings, the community is left to grapple with the implications of such violence in a public space.
