Service is running on time again on all GO Transit lines after a police investigation just west of Union Station caused lengthy delays during the evening commute. The disruption began when officers were called to Union Station around 3 p.m. for a medical call, leading to significant delays for commuters.
Toronto police responded to the medical call in the area of Front and Bathurst streets at 3:10 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased person at the scene. The situation prompted a thorough investigation, which resulted in the scene being cleared by 6:30 p.m.
Authorities have stated that the death is not considered suspicious at this time. This incident follows another recent case where Toronto police sought assistance in identifying a woman found dead near Union Station on January 26. The coroner confirmed that her death was also not suspicious.
The woman was described as elderly, standing five foot two inches tall, with a thin build and short greying hair. She was last seen wearing a black winter jacket, a grey-hooded sweater, black jeans, and black boots.
During the investigation, commuters faced delays as trains were held up, impacting the evening rush hour. However, service resumed as normal after the police cleared the area.
Toronto EMS and Metrolinx were also involved in the response to the incident, ensuring that public safety was prioritized during the investigation.
As of now, details remain unconfirmed regarding any further developments related to the deceased individual found near Union Station. Authorities continue to monitor the situation, and updates may follow as more information becomes available.
