Nick Schmaltz Signs Eight-Year Contract Extension
Nick Schmaltz has signed an eight-year contract extension with the Utah Mammoth, a deal valued at $64 million, which translates to an average annual value of $8 million. This significant commitment underscores the Mammoth’s confidence in Schmaltz’s abilities as he continues to excel in his career.
At 30 years old, Schmaltz is having a standout season, having registered 24 goals and 35 assists for a total of 59 points in just 65 games. This season marks a personal milestone for Schmaltz, as he has established a new single-season career high with 24 goals, showcasing his offensive prowess.
In addition to his impressive goal tally, Schmaltz has also made headlines by scoring two hat tricks this season, which ties him for the most in the NHL. His consistent performance has been a key factor in the Mammoth’s competitive standing this year.
Schmaltz’s journey in the NHL began when he was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round (20th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. Since then, he has played 653 career NHL games, accumulating 166 goals and 316 assists for a total of 482 points. His experience and skill make him a valuable asset to the Mammoth.
