UNC Asheville Women’s Golf Team Triumphs
“Our team has been decimated by the flu, so to win by 18 strokes with only four healthy players available is really next level,” said head coach Ross Cash following the UNC Asheville women’s golf team’s impressive victory at the Low Country Intercollegiate held in Hilton Head, S.C.
Leading the charge was Caroline Patterson, who earned individual medalist honors with a score of 217 (+1). Her performance was pivotal, contributing to the Bulldogs’ overall success and demonstrating her talent on the course.
The team shot rounds of 304, 301, and 296, making them the only team to record a sub-300 round during the tournament. This accomplishment highlights their competitive edge and strategic play throughout the event.
In addition to Patterson’s standout performance, Lauren Madson finished in a tie for fourth place with a score of 224 (+8), further solidifying the Bulldogs’ strong showing. Breanna Hoese and Jordyn Arts also contributed to the team’s success, finishing tied for 15th at 230 (+14).
Coach Cash’s victory at the Low Country Intercollegiate marks the first win of his head coaching career at UNC Asheville, adding a personal milestone to the team’s collective achievement.
Looking ahead, UNC Asheville will return to the course on March 23-24 for the Pinetree Women’s Collegiate, where they will aim to build on this momentum and continue their successful season.
This victory not only boosts the team’s confidence but also sets a positive tone for future competitions, as they strive to establish themselves as a formidable presence in women’s collegiate golf.
