Breaking Development
The H. Upmann Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez Sunrise cigar is set to launch in April 2026 in New Orleans, coinciding with the ongoing Sleep Week promotions by Hatch, which features a sale on sunrise alarm clocks.
Immediate Circumstances
Hatch is offering a 25% discount on their latest model, the Hatch Restore 3, which was launched in early 2025. This promotion highlights the increasing popularity of sunrise alarm clocks as a tool for better sleep.
The Sunrise cigar represents the third regular-production H. Upmann brand crafted by AJ Fernandez for Tabacalera USA, expanding their portfolio that debuted with the H. Upmann Nicaragua in 2017 and the Heritage line in 2021. The Sunrise is medium in body and features an Ecuador Connecticut-seed wrapper, designed to cater to a variety of smoking preferences.
The cigars will be packaged in boxes of 20 and will be available in four sizes: Robusto, Toro, Churchill, and Magnum. The Robusto measures 5 inches by 52 ring gauge and is priced at $12.99 per cigar, while the Toro measures 6 inches by 54 ring gauge and costs $13.75. The Churchill, at 7 inches by 50 ring gauge, is priced at $14.25, and the Magnum, measuring 6 inches by 60 ring gauge, will retail for $14.50.
Official Statements
Rafael Nodal, a key figure in the development of the Sunrise, stated, “The Sunrise expands our dream of developing a brand with a choice for every moment of the day.” Gabe Diaz added, “The Sunrise is our take on a Connecticut done right,” emphasizing the careful crafting of the cigar.
Additionally, Nodal mentioned, “We were looking to craft a cigar designed for a smooth experience,” highlighting the brand’s commitment to quality and consumer satisfaction.
The Sunrise release will be unveiled at the PCA Trade Show in New Orleans, where it is expected to attract significant attention from cigar enthusiasts and industry professionals alike. Altadis U.S.A. will also feature a ‘Summer of H. Upmann’ campaign from June through September 2026, further promoting the brand’s offerings.
